China’s diplomatic organ in Manila called on the Philippines to thoroughly investigate anti-China bomb attempts, after three suspects were arrested on Monday.
The three men, later identified to be military reservists, were arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila's major airport, after attempting a vehicle bomb attack, China’s state-backed news agency Xinhua reported.

The suspects later admitted that they had planned to launch other attacks in different locations including the embassy of China in Manila, and a property development firm employing Chinese workers.
Xinhua reported that the suspects wanted to vent their anger regarding the territorial disputes in the South China Sea and labeled their launch as a soft approach. The three were charged with a non-bailable offense of illegally possessing explosive materials.
Philippine Military Chief Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang said the attempt was not a terror attack, and that the suspects were carrying only firecrackers, although other explosives were found in a van parked at the airport, reported Associated Press.
The Chinese embassy said Tuesday that they have already contacted the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the national police to recommend further investigations of the case.
DFA representative Charles Jose said his office has prepared a diplomatic note addressed to the Chinese embassy explaining the bomb attempt, and promising to provide the embassy with information regarding the outcome of the investigation.
Furthermore, he said the Philippines does not use any means of violence to resolve the territorial disputes over parts of the South China Sea.
Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy reminded its nationals staying in the Philippines to be alert against all possible threats. The embassy also expected the host country to secure the diplomatic organ and its staff from any damage and attack.
