Chinese actress Crystal Liu, also known as Liu Yifei, was out and about promoting her new Chinese-French romantic drama film, Le Paon de Nuit (Night Peacock) when a fan eagerly attempted to hug her, which made her fall to the ground.

Crystal was promoting her movie in a theater in Guangzhou on Thursday, May 19. Many fans were present at the event and had a chance to meet the 28-year old actress.

In a video posted online of the event, Crystal is seen happily interacting with her fans while on stage. Out of nowhere, a man sporting a red shirt runs onto the stage and excitedly embraces the actress. Both of them then fall to the ground, and a loud thud can be heard in the background.

Many observers at the event were alarmed, but staff were able to get things immediately under control and get a hold of the crazed fan. The event was cut short, as police arrived to investigate what happened.

Fortunately, Crystal did not sustain any major injuries apart from a few scrapes on her legs and arms. However, the actress is reportedly extremely traumatized by the incident.

The production team of Le Paon de Nuit (Night Peacock) issued a statement, which included an apology to Crystal. It ended with a request from fans which asked, "We earnestly request that fans maintain reason when chasing celebrities. Use love to give back to and support your idol."

As for the crazed fan, he is said to be from Guangxi and has been an avid fan of Crystal for years. Explaining what he did, he said that he just got excited when he saw her on stage.

Le Paon de Nuit (Night Peacock), a romantic movie filmed in China and France, is set to be released on May 20, 2016. Apart from Crystal Liu, it stars Liu Ye, Leon Lai and Yu Shaoqun.
