Kwan will only work for TVB until the end of this year, and the drama Kiss Me Mother will be his last production with TVB. The Hong Kong drama series stars Elena Kong, Michelle Yim, Ben Wong and Sharon Chan.
Back in March, the cast of Kiss Me Mother decided to take a break from production due to concerns with the script. Filming, however, continued later. The crew was again forced to stop production, so the screenwriters have time to create the scripts for the next scenes. This disturbance in production reportedly infuriated TVB executives, which lead to rumors that Kwan was fired.
However, Kwan has denied these rumors.
"If I was fired, I would have left already!" said Kwan Wing-chung. "I'm still working with TVB, but I've already sent in my resignation letter. I'll be leaving in November."
He also shed light on why he decided to leave TVB and explained that it was not solely because of the problem they encountered with Kiss Me Mother. "Due to schedule clashes or accidents, [halting production] can happen every one in a while. But this incident really got blown up, and there's too much gossip going around. I am unhappy about it, which is why I decided to quit," Kwan disclosed.
His departure later this year will mark the second time he leaves TVB. Back in 2000, Kwan left the network to work for ATV. However, he returned in 2003 and produced Net Deception.
Asked whether or not he is going to work for other TV stations after he resigns from TVB, Kwan Wing-chung said that he wants to rest first.
