Game of Thrones season 6, episode 5, was filled with family drama with Sansa (Sophie Turner) arriving at Castle Black and reuniting with her brother Jon (Kit Harington), Margaery (Natalie Dormer) being allowed to see and talk to her also imprisoned brother Loras (Finn Jones) and Theon (Alfie Allen) going back home to his sister Yara (Gemma Whelan). However, what seems to have caught the attention of fans is the very brief reaction of Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) when he first saw Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie).

Brienne and Tormund are yet to talk to each other. They have only exchanged looks; the first when Brienne entered castle black and the second when they were eating. There seems to have been so much more to the way they looked at each other that fans of Game of Thrones immediately started to make "Tarthbane" trend.
Game of Thrones season 5's director Dan Sackheim has confirmed to TV Guide that there will be a relationship between Brienne and Tormund. However, it is unclear whether their romance will blossom this season.
"I wasn't even sure that when I delivered the episode it was really clear," Sackheim said. "It was like a fun little bit, but I wasn't sure it was really clear that he had these amorous feelings for Brienne. I'm always amazed what fans pick up."
He even revealed that he was surprised that fans noticed Brienne and Tormund's brief moment. Speaking to Tech Insider, he said, "I mean it was meant to be a little grace note, and the fact that it's blown up with the buzz it has on the internet and on the blogosphere is kind of shocking to me."
He further elaborated on the scene and said that directing it was extremely fun especially since Brienne and Tormund are two characters whose characters appear to be "cut off from emotions." In fact, he singled out Brienne especially because she is not "particularly forthcoming feminine."
The second trailer for GoT's upcoming episode has just been released, and it appears that Brienne will wind up in the Riverlands, and it is unlikely that Tormund will follow.
But due to the enormous amount of excitement and anticipation for the romance between the two, it is highly likely that Brienne and Tormund will meet again.
Game of Thrones season 6 episode 5 will be aired on May 22, Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO.
