China downed South Korea 3-1 on Saturday to lift the Uber Cup for third time straight in front of enthusiastic supporters at the Kunshan Sports Centre Gymnasium.

China started the day in style as Li Xuerui defeated South Korea's Sung Ji-hyun 14-21, 21-13, 21-10 in the first game. The first game lasted for nearly an hour, and the Olympic champion had to summon all her experience to overcome her gritty South Korean counterpart.

However, South Korea was back on level terms in the second game after Jung Kyung-eun and Shin Seung-chan defeated China's much-fancied pair Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei. The Chinese pair went down 21-16, 17-21, 23-25 in a pulsating game that lasted for nearly 94 minutes.

China restored the order after Wang Shixian demolished Kim Hyo-Min 21-13, 21-12 in merely 45 minutes. In the next deciding game, Chen Qingchen and Tang Yuanting brilliantly overcame the gutsy pair of Chang Ye-na and Lee So-hee 21-14, 21-16 to enable China to lift Uber Cup for the record 14th time.

China's Uber Cup triumph on Saturday comes just two days after China's men team was shockingly dumped by South Korea in the Thomas Cup Quarterfinals. However, the South Korean men team failed to reach finals as they were defeated by Indonesia in Semis.

Meanwhile in other results in the Uber Cup, the Indian women team had to settle for bronze after they were demolished by China 3-0 on Friday. Both Indian star players Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu lost their single fixtures while Indian pair Jwala Gutta and Sikki Reddy went down meekly in their doubles fixture.
