Chinese actress Angela Yang Ying (better known as Angelababy) will co-star in the upcoming Independence Day sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence. In the Hollywood sci-fi disaster movie, Angelababy will play the role of a jet fighter pilot, who will battle aliens.

In Independence Day: Resurgence, Earth is again faced with another threat. However, unlike the first Independence Day, it will not only be the United States that will fight the threat. A lot more countries (including China) will join the battle this time against the extraterrestrial invaders.

Recently dubbed the Kim Kardashian of China, Angelababy will give life to the character Rain Lao. In Independence Day: Resurgence, Rain Lao works at the moon base and is China's best pilot.

Other Chinese actors included in the film are Chin Han, who plays Chinese Space Squadron's leader and Grace Huang.

While Independence Day star Will Smith will not reprise his role in the sequel, many Hollywood actors present in the first film will return including Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Bill Pullman.

Three new teaser videos have just been released for excited fans. Independence Day raked in $900 million box office sales back in 1996, putting a lot of pressure on the Independence Day: Resurgence. However, if newly released trailers are any indication, then fans of the original sci-fi movie will surely be in for a wild and exciting ride.

The producers of Independence Day: Resurgence hope that the sequel will spark nostalgia in older moviegoers, who were able to catch the original Independence Day, but at the same time ignite the interest of new audiences with its intense alien fight scenes.

Independence Day: Resurgence is directed by Roland Emmerich and will be released in China on June 24, 2016. The sci-fi film will open in North America on the same day as China.
