As China's military power increases, nations scramble to "contain" its power. However, the United States has to be the most concerned in creating a strategy to counter China's military power, according to experts.
Recent developments in China's military force have become comparable to America's military power. In some cases, military experts see that China has the capability to surpass the U.S.

In Fire on the Water: China, America and the Future of the Pacific , author Robert Haddick presented China's case vis the military capabilities of the U.S.
Haddick said China has created a navy that will be significantly superior to America's in the next five years. It has also been expanding its weaponry, air force and intelligence.
Another reason for the U.S. to be concerned in China's growing military power is its formal commitment to defend its old allies.
In case of a conflict aggravated to point of using arms, say in the disputed South China Sea, countries such as the Philippines and Vietnam would turn to the U.S.
However, some experts believe that the U.S. might abandon its commitments to Asian allies affected by China's territorial expansion goal.
If a war takes place between China and the U.S. today, the latter would be presented with risk too great to take, according to experts.
The belief that China is emerging as a military threat to U.S. is not new. In fact, many believe that the modernization in China's military force is directly aimed at the U.S.
Experts have long offered their views about this growing threat. While many have tackled China's military power and strategy, some experts include its bilateral relationship in the equation.
For the U.S. to win, it has to understand the different aspects of its relationship with China and the dynamics of China's relationship with other Asian countries, according to experts.
Moreover, experts said that the U.S. has to start addressing it now. The Obama administration has to add China in its long list of current global concerns.
