HP surprised the tech community when the company unveiled one of its latest creation, a backpack PC that can run virtual reality contents. The tech company has released a photo of the PC. Although it is still unnamed, it will be part of the premium Omen X line of devices.

In a highly anticipated announcement, HP released the very first photo of the Omen X backpack PC. The company did not release a press statement nor has HP created an official product page as it typically does.

In a statement acquired by Tech Crunch, HP vice president of consumer PC and solutions Mike Nash said, "There are two consistent pieces of feedback we've gotten. The first is that the demo is incredibly cool, and the second it that the cord is incredibly annoying."

Nash added that although no one has tripped over the cord during the demos, users were aware of the cord the whole time. He said this limited the overall virtual reality experience.

HP has said that it is working on a new solution to address this cord problem. The first idea was to use wireless transfer, but it was ditched since it cannot accommodate the massive throughput required by virtual reality contents without a notable increase in latency.

HP's solution was to create a powerful wearable PC. The idea is not entirely foreign to the tech community since MSI recently showed off a similar concept.

HP's prototype virtual reality backpack PC weighs less than 10 pounds and has a battery that can last up to a full hour on a single charge. To extend the device's battery life, HP is adding a belt with hot swappable batteries, according to The Verge. This will allow users to switch batteries without losing power to the device.
