Tournament's unseeded and current world No. 9, Taipei-native Tai Tzu Ying, stunned the reigning third-highest ranked women's singles badminton player, Wang Yihan of China, to successfully win her maiden BCA Indonesia Open title at the Istola Galera Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Sunday.

The 21-year-old native of Kaohsiung had an easy victory over the fourth seeded Chinese badminton ace with two straight sets 21-17, 21-8 in a matter of only 34 minutes. The Jakarta-based World Super Series Premier badminton event was the eighth individual title of the Taiwanese champion.
"Wang played a long match in semi-final before beating Carolina Marin in 3-sets, while I had an easy semis. Therefore, I have an advantage in terms of stamina which makes the difference," said Tai, who was a bronze medalist at the 2015 Asia Badminton Championships in Wuhan, China.
On her way to the championship round, Tai defeated all three top-ranked Chinese shuttlers she faced in the earlier stages of the competition, defeating world No. 4, Li Xuerui, in the second round and world No. 6, Wang Shixian, in the semifinal round before beating the 2012 London Olympics silver medalist in the finals.
Sunday's victory gave the 2014 Hong Kong Open winner a 5-3 career head to head matchup advantage over Yihan, and also marked an inaugural win for Ying in their first meeting this year.
This isn't the first time Ying has triumphed over Yihan. The Badminton ace got the better of Wang in the Yonex Badminton French Open in October 2011 as well as the BWF Destination Dubai World Super Series Finals in December 2014.
In 2015, the Taipei-native won two of the three meetings they had played; the OUE Singapore Open in April and the Yonex Open Japan in September, before emerging victorious in their Indonesia Open 2016 showdown.
Wang on the other hand, won over Tai at Lin Ning Singapore Open in June 2011, Badminton Asia Championships in April 2013 and at the Thaihot China Open in November 2015.
