A new foe is headed to Star City! The upcoming fifth season of Arrow will introduce a new villain inspired by Idris Elba's nefarious drug kingpin from HBO series, The Wire.
The character, tentatively named Anton Church, is loosely based on Elba's villainous character Stringer Bell.
The upcoming character on tap to fill the void of Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E is described as an "apex predator" who "cuts his way through the shadows" by taking down "the biggest threat first."

Physically, fans can expect that Oliver's latest enemy would share some similarities with Jason Mamoa's character of Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones.
Series star Stephen Amell teased the new Big Bad Oliver but did not reveal any further details about the character. "As far as I know, they don't have superpowers. I'll tell you that," the actor told Variety.
While casting is still underway for Anton Church, Arrow fans should also take into consideration that he might have an accomplice. In May, the show released a casting call for the role of James. The character is described as an "irrepressibly charming" man who's on a mission "to avenge a tragic, violent loss from his own, years-ago past."
While arc details are still scarce, Amell recently shared some plot points he wishes to see in the new bunch of episodes, saying that he hopes that the writing will get back to basics in season five.
"We need to get back to focusing more on some of the core elements that used to define Arrow," Amell told Entertainment Weekly. "To me, that's hand-to-hand combat, no superpowers, and dealing with the job of cleaning up Star City."
Arrow also stars David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne and Echo Kellum. Its upcoming fifth season is slated to air every Wendesday at 8PM on the CW.
