Jack Black found himself to be the latest victim of a celebrity death hoax on the internet. On Sunday, the 46-year-old actor became the talk of the town as it quickly spread on social media that he had died.
"I'm sad to officially announce the death of Jack Black at the age of 46, rest in peace brother," read the first tweet from the official account of Black's band, Tenacious D. The post was followed by a series of updates that read "the cause of death is unknown" and "RIP Jack."

However, the band's guitarist, John Konesky, claimed that their account was hacked and the news was not true. "Real Tenacious D's Twitter feed was hacked...That stuff isn't true, they're working on fixing it," the 35-year-old Grammy-winner wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
Later, Tenacious D's official page shared another tweet, saying, "Calm down guys! It's just a prank bro, look there's the camera."
This isn't the first time the Goosebumps actor has been killed off by a death hoax. In 2012, an online hoax claimed that the actor had failed off a cliff in New Zealand, and in 2014, there were reports that Black had died after suffering a stroke.
An "R.I.P Jack Black" Facebook page was also created on Friday. "At about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (June 03, 2016), our beloved actor Jack Black passed away. Jack Black was born on August 28, 1969, in Santa Monica. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page," the page read.
Unfortunately, a lot of people believed started offering condolences on the page, followed by an outpouring of tributes to the actor, which sent social media into meltdown. The page received nearly a million likes.
WE had our Twitter account hacked. We can assure you that Jack is ALIVE and WELL and that this was a sick "prank".
