The 16th match of the Copa America Centenario 2016 football championship will be played between Argentina and Panama at the Soldier Field in Chicago, IL.

The Argentinian national football team kicked off its Copa America campaign with a 2-1 win over defending champions Chile and is now looking to take control of group D with a win over Panama on Friday.

Midfielder Angel Di Maria, whose grandmother died hours before the game against Chile, inspired Argentina to a victory with an opening goal. "I had to play, I wanted to play, my grandmother was so proud that I played for the national team," an emotional Maria said during a post match interview.

Panama also won their opening Copa America Centenario game against Bolivia on Monday night and are also hopeful of beating Argentina at Gillette Stadium in order to advance to the quarter finals.

Argentine star and football sensation, Lionel Messi, who missed Monday's game against Chile, is likely to join the squad for their second group stage match.

Coach Gerardo Martino also hinted at the possibility of Messi's return. "He has continued working here, he's kicking the ball better now. We expect in four days he'll be in a condition to play. So we're thinking we will be in a better position by then," Martino said.
