The Xeon series of processors are aimed for enterprise use and the newest to be added to the family are the E7-8800 v4 and the E7-4800 v4. Intel said that the new processors can provide up to 10 times performance per dollar compared to its closest rival, the Power8 solutions from IBM. Intel added that the new Xeon CPUs are also power efficient and require only half the power demanded by the Power8.

A performance test sheet provided by Intel reveals that the new processors are already installed in new platforms from several OEMs. Intel also provided a benchmark test result to compare the new Xeon processors with some of its rivals, as well as older Intel Xeon processors.

Despite the publicity Intel is throwing on this new Xeon processors, the company is yet to reveal the official specs of the chips including clock speeds, and the number of cores they possess.

The Intel website shows that there are 11 new processors. These range from the E7-8893 v4 to the E7-4809 v4. On top of the list is the E7-8893 v4, which has a base clock speed of 3.2GHz and a massive 60MB cache. It has four compute cores and a TDP of 140 watts. It also has the Intel QPI link with speeds of up to 9.6GT per second.

At the bottom of the list is the E7-4809 v4, which sports a base clock speed of 2.1GHz. It has a 20MB cache and 155 watts TDP. It has eight compute cores and QPI link speed of 6.4GT per second.

The most interesting processor on the list is the E7-8890 v4, which has =24 compute cores, 60MB of cache and clock speed of 2.2GHz. it has a 165watts TDP.

Intel is yet to confirm the official release date and pricing details of its new Xeon processors.
