Chinese tech giant Xiaomi recently announced the successor to its line of fitness tracker, the Mi Band. The new model sports an enhanced OLED display and a larger battery, which the company claims can last about for up to 20 days after just a single full charge.
The fitness tracker, called Mi Band 2, has an upgraded battery, which Xiaomi claims is 55 percent better compared to the last model. The improved battery somehow explains the price increase of the Mi Band 2. The original Mi Band is available for $14 in the market, but the Mi Band 2 comes with price tag of $23.

Even though the Mi Band 2 is slightly more expensive than its previous model, it is still significantly affordable compared to other fitness trackers in the market.
Unfortunately, the Mi Band 2 will not be available in the United States soon. Xiaomi announced that the fitness tracker will initially be launched in China on June 7. The original Mi Band took more than six months to arrive in North America following its initial release in China and tech experts speculate that the Mi Band 2 will follow the same release schedule as its predecessor.
Apart from the upgraded battery and improved 0.42-inch OLED screen, the new Mi Band 2 is also equipped with a better pedometer algorithm, which accurately tracks its user's steps. The Mi Band 2 also supports Bluetooth 4.0, which enables users to unlock the fitness tracker just by moving it close to the smartphone it is synced to.
Xiaomi has also made some major changes on the Mi Band app, which now allows one to customize which data one wants to see on the tracker's display. Moreover, the heart rate readout can also be easily accessed simply by lifting the wrist or touching the capacitive buttons on the display.
Just like its predecessor, the new Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is water resistant and can vibrate in order to alert its user when they receive a call, a text message, or an app notification on their smartphone.
