The widely popular physics-based football video game Rocket League is set to roll out an update that will introduce a new Trade-in System as well as new sets of Rare and Very Rare items.

Rocket League developer Psyonix announced the new features via the company's official blog. The company said that the player-to-player trading option is currently in the works and will be released on a later date.

In Rocket League, there are instances when players can acquire duplicate items. It is still unclear why this occurs. To remedy this, Psyonix has decided to introduce a new trading system where players have the option to trade certain items for new items which have a much higher rarity value.

Once the new update is rolled out, players can trade five Uncommon items in exchange for one Rare item. This new feature can be accessed via the Manage Inventory screen.

Certified and Painted items have the potential to be highly priced items once the trading feature is implemented. Psyonix said that the new Trade-in System is designed in such a way that players have the option to get rid of items they do not want.

The Rocket League June update will also introduce new Rare and Very Rare items. Some of these items take their cue from Psyonix's own "meta-theme." Among the items to be introduced are decals and Boost trails.

Pysonix also teased fans claiming that a major feature will be introduced this month. Whatever that is, the developer did not provide additional details aside from the somewhat vague "meta-theme" description.

Since its July 2015 release, Rocket League has earned more than $110 million and breached the 5 million mark for units sold across all platforms. Psyonix recently revealed that the game now has more than 16 million active players.
