Basketball legend Magic Johnson recently took to Twitter to respond to Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson's recent statement that the Warriors will beat the Showtime Lakers of the 80s.

Thompson recently said during a post-game interview that he believes the Warriors are a better team than the Showtime Lakers. "We are better than the 'Showtime' Lakers," Thompson said, interrupting teammate Draymond Green, who was asked if the Warriors could be compared to a team from a previous era.

Ironically, Mychal Thompson, Klay's father was a key stalwart of the former 80's team. The senior Thompson agreed with his son's recent statement though, saying that after viewing the interview, he was inclined to believe that his son is right.

Mychal added that he does not suffer from SOMS or Stubborn Old Man Syndrome, and he believes that things change and new athletes can be better or just as good. He also pointed out that defence and three-point shooting were the Warriors' greatest strengths, which is likely to give them an edge over his team.

However, Johnson disagrees with both father and son.

Known for his down-to-earth and cheerful disposition on and off the court, Johnson tweeted, "I disagree with Mychal Thompson and his son Klay, my "Showtime" Lakers would beat the Warriors."

The Golden State Warriors are currently dominating the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

The Showtime Lakers were the most dominant team during the 80's and had 5 championship titles during that stretch. It's roster included all-time greats like Kareem Abdul Jabbar, James Worthy, Byron Scott.
