The Philadelphia 76ers are ready to swap prized big man Nerlens Noel for a chance to sign Derrick Rose this summer but only if the Chicago Bulls will initiate the deal.

Recent rumors had been out since last week that the Sixers are planning to trade either one of their two young centers, Nerlens Noel or Jahlil Okafor, before the NBA draft on June 23, as per ESPN.

The alleged reason was new team president and general manager Bryan Colangelo felt that the team has a surplus of young talent in the said position, particularly because Joel Embiid is finally playing his first NBA game and Dario Saric is on his way from Europe.

Noel's name had been linked to a lot of teams since then and one of the latest is this rumor regarding a trade with the Bulls for Rose.

Hoops Rumors noted that "Derrick Rose is another option for the team (Philadelphia) to consider should the Bulls look to deal him (Noel)". The report continued that "Philadelphia would give Rose a comfortable situation to re-establish himself as a star in this league. Trading a package headlined by Rose may not be enough for the Bulls to bring Okafor to Chicago, but some version of a Noel-Rose deal makes sense for both sides."

While it is evident that the former NBA MVP is not his same dominating self as he once was, Philadelphia still find a lot of value in him as they had specifically expressed the need for a veteran point guard that could lead their young core on and off the court.

Rose is a leader and will always be one, but in Chicago, Jimmy Butler seemed to be gradually taking over as the new main man. The said leadership confusion could be a factor if the Bulls do decide to trade their starting point guard.

Another is Rose's impending unrestricted free-agency next summer. Chicago may want to trade him now while he still commands decent value and Noel, with all his upside and potential, is definitely more than decent as a compensation.
