Motorola announced its latest devices at Thursday's Tech World Conference, including the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play series.
Since the announcement, there are rumors swirling that the Moto Z is capable of 10x optical zoom, which would be possible through modular plates that are set to roll out as optical accessories with the Moto Z smartphones.

If the rumor mills are anything to go by, the 10x optical zoom would be the best feature of the Moto Z iteration.
The device's modular plates will also be another exciting feature. Referred to as MotoMods, the plates are snap-on accessory cases that attach to the device via connecting pins on the phone's back. The mods can be used as a power bank, projector or just a vanity case.
The Moto Z series will be available in two models - Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play. Motorola will possibly collaborate with Verizon to make Droid-branded handsets. Speculations suggest that the Droid Edition will share the same features as the Moto Z Style.
While the two variants will have the same screen size, they will differ when it comes to resolution. It is reported that the Moto Z Style will come equipped with a QHD display, while the Moto Z Play will feature full HD display.
With regard to their specs, the Moto Z Style will be a premium smartphone running on a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 SoC and a dual-core 2.0 GHz Kryo CPU. In addition, the premium device could sport 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory.
The smartphone will also feature a 13-megapixel main camera with autofocus, a 5-megapixel front camera, and will be powered by a non-removable 2600mAh battery.
The Moto Z Play, on the other hand, will run on a Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 SoC. The mid-range device will supposedly have either 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, or 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal memory.
The Moto Z Play will ship with a 16MP main camera with laser and face detection autofocus.
