"Nashville" season 5 will officially move to CMT after being cancelled by ABC.

According to TV Line, CMT issued an announcement about picking up the Connie Britton starrer saying that they heard the fans' request to not pull out the show.

CMT President Brian Philips said, "CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for 'Nashville' has been overwhelming. 'Nashville' is a perfect addition to our evolving line-up of big music specials, documentaries and original series. We see our fans and ourselves in this show, and we will treasure it like no other network. 'Nashville' belongs on CMT."

ABC Studios executive vice president Patrick Moran chimed in, "We always had faith that we would find a way to bring 'Nashville' back to its devoted fans, and we're very proud to be in partnership with CMT and Hulu to extend the life of this series."

Meanwhile, "Nashville" season 5 will be led by two new showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick. The two replaced Dee Johnson in the said role.

One of the main storylines that the two new showrunners need to focus on would have to do with the fate of Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere).

In the season 4 finale, Juliette rode a private jet that seemingly went missing. It is therefore unclear whether or not Juliette's jet crashed and if she did or didn't survive.

With the renewal of "Nashville" for season 5, there are also some rumors that not all cast members will return because CMT cannot really afford to pay each and every one of them.

It is therefore possible that Panettiere will no longer return to the series despite its recent renewal.

As of late, the updated casting for "Nashville" season 5 hasn't been confirmed yet. It is also unclear when the series will premiere on CMT.
