Ride-hailing service Uber recently released a new feature known as Scheduled Rides and as the name suggests, it will allow users to book a ride up to 30 days in advance unlike conventional transport services.
Uber launched its Scheduled Rides service in Seattle and was initially exclusive to business customers only. However, it has now also been made available to Uber X customers, which is the company's most popular service.

Uber's rival Lyft also launched a similar ride-scheduling feature last month. However, the service is still in its pilot-testing phase and can only be accessed by Lyft employees at the moment.
Uber's Scheduled Rides feature can be set from 30 minutes to up to 30 days in advance. There is no difference in rates, although Uber said that if surge prices are in effect at the time, the rate for Scheduled Rise will rise as well.
Cancelling the Scheduled Ride will not merit a cancellation fee, as long as users cancel the ride within five minutes of the car being dispatched.
One of the many advantages of Uber's new feature is that it eliminates the inconvenience brought about by the lack of available Uber cars. Moreover, regular Uber users now have the option to book a whole month's worth of rides ahead of time.
The new feature also notifies users of their scheduled ride should they forget about it. Uber sends them a reminder on the day of the ride, and also sends another reminder as soon as the driver, who is scheduled to pick up the user, departs to come get them. In the event that there is a surge in pricing, Uber will also notify the user of the rate changes that will take effect.
