Bethesda announced the free upgrade through its Twitter account. "If you own Skyrim and all its add-ons or Legendary Edition on Steam, you'll get a free upgrade to Skyrim Special Edition on Oct 28," the tweet read.
Bethesda has yet to confirm whether the same PC deal will be offered to the console crowd. Since Oct. 28 is still a few months away, console gamers are hopeful that they will get the same deal as the PC crowd too.
The special edition comes with a lot of upgrades like enhanced graphics, remastered effects and art, volumetric god rays, and improved dynamic field of depth. All these upgrades will surely add more immersive elements to the already impressive visuals of the game.
In addition to graphic improvements, Bethesda has yet to announce whether Skyrim: Special Edition will include new contents or features.
As for the console crowd, Bethesda announced that it will be rolling out an update that will allow gamers to add mods to the game. The company released a trailer of this new feature and experts were quick to compare its interface to the recently implemented Fallout 4 mod support.
Moreover, Bethesda also released a bunch of new trailers, including a preview for Quake Champions. There is also speculation that Bethesda is planning to release a new Wolfenstein game. During Bethesda's E3 2016 press briefing, a mysterious title The New Colossus was listed just below two previously released Wolfenstein video games, leading many to believe that a new game is in development.
