The Chinese women's national basketball team's bid to secure a ticket for a qualifying spot in the upcoming 2016 Rio suffered a major setback after the team lost to Spain 77-43 at the Nantes, France on Tuesday.
China failed to replicate their game-winning performance in their opening match against Venezuela. The national team struggled offensively as none of the Chinese players were able to score double-digit figures.

Shao Ting, who had 14 points in their last outing, finished the game with team-high nine points while Sun Mengran and Chen Xiaojia chipped in with eight and seven points respectively.
China's coach Thomas Maher made a change to the national team's starting five, with center Huang Hongpin replacing veteran Chen Nan in the position.
The change, however, didn't make much of a difference as the Spaniards displayed their offensive strength in depth and dominated the shaded area, preventing China from getting the upper hand throughout the match.
Alba Torrens, two-time FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year winner, led the 2014 Women's World Cup runner-up team with 22 points. Center Sancho Lyttle added 12 points and 13 rebounds for Spain, who finished the game leading by as many as 30 points.
China registered one win and one loss in the group stage and will be waiting for the result of the Spain vs Venezuela match on Wednesday. A victory for Spain will mean a second-place finish for China in the group and an outright quarterfinals berth as Venezuela would sit at the bottom of Group D with no wins.
As per the tournament's format, the twelve participating teams were distributed into four different groups. The groups' top two teams will advance to the last eight and the winners of each quarterfinal matchup will earn four tickets to the 2016 Rio Olympics. The four losing teams will still compete for the fifth and final Olympic ticket.
