A wild trade prediction that would send Derrick Rose to the point guard-deficient New York Knicks has recently emerged as the Chicago Bulls are rumored to be ready to move on from the former NBA MVP.

Basketball Insiders' Steve Kyler recently reported that the 27-year-old Rose could be on his way out of Chicago this summer as the Bulls are said to be "actively open to moving" the three-time All-Star and "that seems to be the first choice rather than shopping (shooting guard Jimmy) Butler".

There had been speculations that both Rose and Butler, two of the team's best players and anointed leaders both on the basketball court and in the locker room, are set to be shopped this offseason by the Bulls management as the team is intending to do a major roster tweak that will complement the system of new head coach Fred Hoiberg.

To successfully do so, Chicago may have to trade one or both players in order to get the appropriate pieces in return. However, of the two, Rose is said to be the likelier one to be dealt.

According to Kyler, there are no teams that have officially made a bid for the 2011 MVP at the moment most probably because of the $21.3 million compensation due him this coming 2016-2017 season.

He also noted that "a team that misses on a starting-caliber point guard in free agency may turn to the Bulls" for a trade this summer and speculations abound that it would be the Knicks.

Fansided suggested New York as one of five potential destinations for Rose, although the article did not specify what the Knicks would give up in exchange.

The report clarified that despite Rose's evident decline when it comes to his skills and production, "he still has the skill of a top point guard deep down, and the Bulls won't give him up without a relatively high return".

The return could be not that high anymore, though, as one can always refer to his injury-prone career history to negotiate a lower price for replacement.
