A 2-year old boy has reportedly been attacked and dragged into the water by an alligator living on the shores of the Disney-owned Grand Floridian Resort and Spa on Tuesday Night and is currently still missing.

Florida Fish and Wildlife member, Jeff Williamson spoke to the press and confirmed that the child has not yet been located and that deputies are in both water and air to find the missing child. When asked about the plans for their rescue operations, Williamson explained, "For now we're going to bring in some fresh eyes and continue with the search, we are expecting the worst and hoping for the best."

Orange County Deputies are currently using Sonarsearchseach the man-made lake, they have also enlisted the help of a helicopter and a 10-person dive team.

The executive director of the FWC, Nick Wiley, said that investigators are not giving up hope but the chances of a successful rescue fade the longer it goes on. Wiley said that attacks like these are extremely rare, especially with a toddler.

Wiley told the press, "Right now all we're doing is searching for the little boy to hopefully bring the family some kind of closure".

It is not know how many alligators live in Seven Seas Lagoon. The rescue team does not have a map of the lake but they have confirmed that it does intersect with other man-made lakes in the resort.

The father boy's father reportedly entered the water and tried to pry his child off from the gator, but was unsuccessful, he had scratches on his hands after the ordeal and was treated by the local medical team.

A few minutes later a nearby lifeguard was alerted that an alligator had attacked the boy. Officials have estimated that the alligator was between four and seven feet long.

The initial report came into officials at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rose Silva said.
