Chinese tech company OnePlus recently announced that it is releasing its new flagship device, the OnePlus 3, completely unlocked in the United States. OnePlus had been using this strategy in its past releases. The company said that it will release two models the OnePlus 3 - one will be released in North America, while the other is slated for release in Asia and Europe.

The reason to release two models is that different types of bands are used in these different regions. The North American version of the OnePlus 3 supports CMDA EVDO: BC0. The previously released OnePlus 2 model supports the same band, a fact that led many tech experts to believe that the new OnePlus 3 will be readily available to run on AT&T and T-Mobile's networks. It is important to note that Verizon and Sprint do not support that specific network band.

In North America, OnePlus 3 supports GSM bands 850, 900, 1800 and 1900. For WCDMA, it supports bands 1, 2, 4, 5, and 8. Finally for FDD-LTE, it supports bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, and 17.

Since OnePlus 3 is an unlocked smartphone, users who decide to pick it up will not have to worry about making any major changes to the phone's settings. Moreover, since OnePlus 3 supports AT&T and T-Mobile networks, it should also work on Mobile Virtual Network Operators or MVNOs that run on those networks. Some confirmed MVNOs that will work with OnePlus 3 are Tracfone, Cricket, Simple Mobile, MetroPCS, Ting, Straight Talk, and Walmart Family Mobile.

The OnePlus 3 flagship smartphone sports a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED screen. It is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm with 6GB of RAM. It has 64GB of storage space and a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone has a retail price of 2628 yuan ($399).
