Borussia Dortmund winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan wants to move to Manchester United, according to his agent Mino Raiola.

The Armenian's contract with the Bundesliga club expires in the summer and the player prefers a move to the Jose Mourinho-managed Premier League side despite Dortmund's attempts to block his move.

"He wants to go to Manchester United and we are still trying to resolve the situation," the agent told The Times. "We are still talking to Dortmund. We are trying to be reasonable. They are aware that Micki wants to leave now."

Dortmund have already lost key players with Ilkay Gundogan signing for Manchester City and Mats Hummels' move to Bayern Munich. Moreover, Marco Reus has also suffered another injury and the team's star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also set to join Gundogan at City.

Mkhitaryan's departure will be a huge blow to last season's Bundesliga runners-ups and boss Thomas Tuchel. Mkhitaryan, 27, had an impressive 2015-2016 season, scoring 23 goals and 32 assists across all competitions.

"We have been negotiating with Henrikh Mkhitaryan for four months for him to extend his contract with us," said Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke earlier this week.

"Now we know that it is not extended, it was never our commitment that Mkhitaryan may leave us prematurely."

"We have intensely discussed the question of an early transfer in all club bodies and came to the conclusion that Mkhitaryan will stay in Dortmund next season," he added.

Mourinho has already unveiled former Villareal defender Eric Bailly as his first signing as manager of Manchester United and there's no doubt that the addition of Mkhitaryan will improve The Reds' attacking strength.
