A white sedan believed to be a Toyota Avalon has been spotted in China around the east Beijing area. The car appears a bit bland but seems to be in good shape nevertheless.

The first generation of Toyota Avalon was manufactured between 1994 and 1999 in the United States. Production was later moved to Australia in 2000 until 2005.

The car spotted in Beijing appears to be an original US production. The Toyota Avalon s only available in one engine variant; a V6 3.0-liter engine capable of outputting 192 horsepower and 286nm of torque. It has a four-speed automatic transmission and a two-wheel front-drive configuration.

The Avalon was never officially released in China, which makes the latest sighting quite rare. Since the Avalon was designed for the American market, the car sports wide and flat seats with big cup holders and a column-mounted shifter. A third-seater option is also available on the front bench, a feature that is rarely added in new generation cars.

It is still unknown whether the Avalon spotted in Beijing is in its original state or was recently restored. The interior of the car looks well maintained with the leathers in good condition. The car even has the original radio-cassette player.

Some interesting paperwork was also found on the car. It shows a New York State safety and emission inspection certification dated 2006. This could mean that the car was shipped to China around that time.
