The Xiaomi Redmi 3S is now available in China for preorder. Interested buyers can simply head to Xiaomi's official website and place their orders for the upgraded version of the flagship device from the Chinese tech giant.

A few weeks ago, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 3. Despite the hype built around the device, it did not perform nearly as expected on the market, a fact that will probably get worse now that Xiaomi is launching an upgraded version of the device.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3S is not the most powerful device the company has to offer. In fact, the Redmi family of devices are designed to combine mid-tier specs with affordability.

At the heart of the Redmi 3S is a Snapdragon 430 processor from Qualcomm with 3GB of memory and 32GB of storage space. It has a decent 13-megapixel rear facing camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. The storage space is expandable up to 128GB via the microSD card slot.

Despite being branded as a mid-tiered device, the Redmi 3S will undoubtedly appeal to hardcore users, thanks to the device's 4,100 mAh battery pack, which should be strong enough to power the device for at least a day.

Interestingly, the Redmi 3S is the first Xiaomi device to sport a fingerprint scanner. While many smartphone manufacturers have already released devices fingerprint scanners, it appears that Xiaomi is a bit late into the game.

The Redmi 3S has a 5-inch display that supports 1280 x 720 HD resolution. Many tech analysts consider this spec as a bit of a letdown, especially since 1080p resolution is starting to become a standard for most manufacturers. The device sports a full metal body and is available in three color options: gold, grey, and silver.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3S is expected to ship starting July 15.
