Microsoft China Restructures Top Executive Positions

(Photo : Reuters) Ralph Haupter would be the new Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Asia Pacific.

Tech giant Microsoft has announced some changes in some of its top executive positions in China and Asia Pacific.

The company announced that Microsoft Greater China Region Corporate Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Ralph Haupter would be promoted to become Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Asia Pacific. The current Microsoft France President Alain Crozier will fill the position vacated by Haupter.

As Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Asia Pacific, Haupter will oversee the company's operation in the region which covers 12 subsidiaries in 39 countries and territories. The region is also home to more than 3,000 employees and 100,000 partners.

Haupter is already considered as a veteran employee of Microsoft. According to China Tech News, he had been with the company for at least 11 years before he assumed his executive role in China.

Prior to his stint in China, Haupter served as vice president of Microsoft Germany. He also served as the head of Microsoft Partner Division in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Haupter also worked as the General Manager of Microsoft's Small and Mid-market Solutions and Partner Group in Western Europe.

While working in Microsoft China, Haupter played a significant role in bringing some of the company's major products into the region. During his tenure, Microsoft was able to release Xbox One in China by partnering with a local company BesTV. Microsoft also partnered with 21Vianet to bring Microsoft Azure into the region. For Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge Internet browser, Microsoft picked Baidu.com as its default homepage and search engine, according to MS Power User.
