The report also claims the Italian national has drawn interest from a handful of clubs including Chelsea, Everton and AC Milan. The 30-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and Southampton is willing to listen to offers for the player.

Pelle played for Feyenoord before joining Southampton under the management of former gaffer Ronald Koeman and has been an impressive player for the Premier League side, playing an instrumental role in making the Saints a top-six team in the EPL.The player scored 23 times in 68 league appearances for the club over two seasons.

There has been speculation that Pelle will be returning to the Serie A after AC Milan reportedly inquired about the forward. Former boss Koeman is also keen on bringing him over to Everton following his move to Goodison Park but faces fierce competition from Chelsea as Antonio Conte, under whom Pelle made his international debut in 2014, has also shown interest in working with him again.

Alvaro Morata is Conte's first choice but if the Blues fail to sign the 23-year-old, they would be weighing up a £12 million move for Pelle. Chelsea has already acquired one striker this summer, signing Michy Batshuayi from Marseille for a fee in the range of £33m.

However, so far the biggest offer for Pelle has come from China's Shanghai Greenland, which already has the attacking talent of Demba Ba and Fredy Guarin.
