According to Digital Trends, Xiaomi international vice president Hugo Barra said on Tuesday, July 5, that the company is planning to go premium as their customers are demanding higher quality devices. He stated this during the launch of Xiaomi Mi Home experience center in Hong Kong. It appears that the company is trying a different strategy. But it does not mean that Xiaomi is going to stop producing cheap smartphones with high quality.
Apart from that revelation, there has been no additional information about the $600 Xiaomi smartphone in terms of its specifications or whether it will have variants.
There are rumors that the device might be the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi Note 2, which would come with a dual curved screen, GSM Arena reported. The Mi Note 2 will have a 5.7-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels, a pixel density of 773ppi, and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It will be powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at a speed of 2.15 GHz. It will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Adreno 530 GPU. It will come with a 16-megapixel f/2.0 camera at the back and a 4-megapixel f/2.0 front-facing camera. It will also be packed with a non-removable Li-Ion 3600 mAh battery.
