The Chinese men's national basketball team suffered its second consecutive defeat in the ongoing four-nation FIBA Stankovic Continental Championship Cup after being beaten by France 63-48 in Beijing on Wednesday.
Following their 79-71 loss against Nigeria last Tuesday in the opening game of the tournament, China endured another setback as it prepares for the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil this August.

The Chinese team failed to take advantage of the weakened French squad whose top players including the likes of NBA stars Tony Parker and Boris Diaw are currently competing for their country in an Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila, Philippines.
According to Xinhua, China was led by the four-time CBA Domestic MVP and former NBA player Yi Jianlian with 12 points and five boards while Guo Ailun contributed 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
China struggled offensively with its key players having a hard time scoring. Houston Rockets' 2016 second round draft pick Zhou Qi only managed to score four points and Memphis Grizzlies 57th pick Wang Zhelin only produced two points.
According to SofaScore, the game entered the third period with France having a slim edge with a one-point lead 26-25. China endured a shooting nightmare in the 3rd quarter of the match in which the team only managed to score 5 points whereas the opposing team managed to produce a better 23 points to establish a comfortable 19-point lead 49-30.
In the final period of the match, China tried to rally and fought back with an 18-14 fourth quarter charge. But with the huge gap, France was able to wrap up the game victorious.
France will be playing Nigeria while China will face Argentina on Friday in the last round of the tournament.
