Moto Z Play Arrives in India for Testing

Lenovo Moto Z Play smartphone (codenamed Vertex) has been spotted on the website of the Indian import tracker Zauba. A few units fo the device have reportedly already been imported into India for testing purposes.

The Zauba listing states that the Moto Z Play arrived in India from Canada on July 2 via a Delhi air cargo, Gizmo China reported. It was listed as Motorola Vertex, which is the well-known codename of the device. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

According to GSM Arena, the Moto Z Play was also spotted on the popular GeekBench benchmarking website on June 16.

In the GeekBench listing, it carries a model number of XT1635-01. According to the listing, the device would come an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at a speed of 2.02 GHz. It would come in two storage variants: one with 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage and another with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The device also has a microSD slot and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system.

There are rumors that the Moto Z Play may come with a 16-megapixel camera at the back that has a dual tone LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera as well as a 3500 mAh battery. There are also speculations that it will have a 7 mm thickness. The device would likely feature a 5.5-inch full high-definition AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, as well as a fingerprint scanner.

The Moto Z Play is the successor to the Moto X Play, which was launched last year.
