Former NBA Player Chris Singleton Bags Named Player of the Week for Chinese NBL Round 17

Former Washington Wizards forward Chris Singleton of the Anhui Wenyi had an outstanding double-double game performance earning him the right to be named Asia-Basket.com NBL Player of the Week in the 17th round of China's professional minor basketball league.

According to Asia-Basket, the 27-year-old American professional basketball reinforcement showed off a very spectacular performance, scoring 45 big points and pulling down 20 rebounds along with four assists and two steals. Singleton led Anhui to defeat Hunan with a 115-108 triumph.

Singleton, who used to play for the Jiangsu Dragons in the Chinese Basketball Association in 2014, went 16 for 25 from the field including two treys from the three attempts he released from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-8 tall native of Canton, Georgia also made 11 of 16 from the free throw line and played for 44 minutes for the WeiDong Hu-led basketball club.

Singleton, a 2011 ACC Defensive Player of the Year winner, is averaging 24.4 points and 11.2 boards per game this season.

With Wednesday's victory, Anhui now have a 15-2 win-loss record and maintain their hold to the second place of the 14-squad basketball league's team standings.  Singleton's team is just one game behind the top team Shaanxi Xinda Wolves.

According to the NBA, Singleton, who played college basketball for the Florida State Seminoles, was averaging 4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 17.6 minutes of playing time in the 148 games he played with the Wizards in three seasons.

Singles is the 2011 NBA Draft 18th overall pick selected by the Washington Wizards. He appeared in a total of 148 games with the team from 2011 to 2014. He also played in the Developmental League of the NBA, fitting in for the Oklahoma City Blue.
