Following nine consecutive weeks of imported Hollywood films, three local Chinese titles are dominating the local box office with Cold War 2 on the top spot.

Hong Kong's Cold War 2 grossed $44 million between Friday and Sunday, nearly tripling its first installation which raked in only $15.4 million from its 4-day debut in 2012. According to Variety, the movie's success can be accounted for by the Hong Kong crime action genre's durability when executed well, the star power endurance, and the fact that the movie made its debut at the Shanghai Festival in June.
