Korean hit drama series Descendants of the Sun continues to sweep Chinese fans off their feet. Now, it is set to get a feature film adaptation in China.
Huace Film and TV, one of the largest movie producers in China, have acquired the copyrights to produce and release a movie adaptation of the drama. According to KBS World, renowned director Zhang Yibai has been tapped to direct the film. But it has not been decided which actors will star in the flick.

Meanwhile, Yibada noted that having the famous on-screen couple Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo in the movie is out of the question. However, the production team has vowed to carefully pick the right cast to reprise the iconic roles of the Song-Song couple.
Zhang, on the other hand, has said that he is under immense pressure to pick the right cast.
"We are under enormous pressure since the original drama hit it off by casting two very attractive stars," Zhang said, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Furthermore, with full awareness of the popularity of the series and how it brought its cast to stardom in just a short time, the producers said they are doubling their efforts to create a movie that is better than the original.
"We won't rely on the reputation of the original drama but use it as a foundation to build a wholly new movie," Zhang said. "We'd like to make a better one."
Descendants of the Sun is a love story of an army captain and a doctor who traveled the fictional war zone of Urk (Uruk) to save lives.
