Huawei Honor 8 has Impressive Specs, Low Price

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has unveiled its newest flagship device, the Huawei Honor 8. The new smartphone shares an almost identical specs with another Huawei flagship device, the Huawei P9, but costs almost half the price.

Huawei launched its Honor series of devices a couple of years ago as part of its diversification strategy. Huawei is known for its unique brand of high-end devices at relatively competitive prices.

The Huawei Honor 8 would be launched in China for about $300 for the entry-level model with 3GB of memory and 32GB of storage space. The mid-tiered model costs $343 and has 4GB of memory and 32GB of storage space. The high-end model which has 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage space will cost $374.

Apart from storage space and memory variants, all three Huawei Honor 8 models are identical. According to ZDNet, all three devices come with an octa-core Kirin 950 processor with a 5.2-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution. The smartphones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei's custom interface EMUI 4.1 on top. All the models support storage expansion through the microSD slot.

In terms of camera specs, the Huawei Honor 8 has a dual 12-megapixel rear facing camera, and an 8-megapixel front facing camera for selfie shots. Powering the device is a 3000mAh non-removable battery pack. The Honor 8 supports Huawei's fast charging technology, according to NDTV.

The Huawei Honor 8 is available in a handful of colors including Sapphire Blue, Sunrise Gold, Pearl White, Sakura Pink, and Midnight Black. The device is slated to be launched in China on July 19. It is still unknown whether the Honor 8 will be released in the international market.
