According to Xinhua, the international basketball tournament also includes France and Germany. The event is the last warmup series for the Olympic-bound Asian powerhouse on their home soil before the team head to the United States for their final preparation for the upcoming prestigious quadrennial games in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil this August.
China won the opening quarter of the game with a 15-12 run after the tip-off. However, the host team went cold in the second period of the game with Montenegro also suffered an awful second quarter shooting as the visiting team only managed to score 11 points while China ended the quarter producing only 9 points.
According to SofaScore, the Chinese men's basketball national squad entered the second half of the game with a slim one-point advantage 24-23. China, which currently sits on the 14th spot in the latest FIBA World Rankings, came up better in the third quarter and outscored Montenegro with a 23-19 charge.
In the final period of the game, the Chinese players rode on with the momentum and continued pounding the opposing team with an 18-10 fourth quarter outburst to seal the win.
Meanwhile, France routed the Germans with a 67-42 triumph in the other match of the tourney. China is set to play Germany on Saturday.
