The reigning CBA Most Valuable Player Yi Jianlian finished the game with 17 points after spending only 18 minutes on the hard wood. Teammates Li Gen and Dingyan Yuhang added 16 and 10 points respectively for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship winning team.
According to Xinhua, the Germans went scoreless in more than four minutes of the opening quarter after the tip-off, but the Chinese players failed to take advantage of the scoring drought of the visitors as they just produced five points during the stretch. The 2016 NBA Draft 43 overall pick Zhou Qi paced China to a17-11 first quarter ending to improve the team's offense in the initial 12 minutes of the game.
The national team capped the first half of the match with an eight-point advantage 40-32 after head coach Gong Luming sent on point guard Zhao Jiwei, who earned China a 9-0 second quarter charge.
According to SofaScore, the Olympic-bound Asian basketball team staged an 18-12 run in the third frame of the international friendly game to establish a 14-point lead entering the final period.
With a comfortable lead, China went on without Wang Zhelin and Li Muhao, who were both fouled out and Yi, who sat out in the final quarter. The Germans managed to cut the deficit within three, but the Asian giants went excellent from the foul line.
Meanwhile, France defeated Montenegro 89-68 in the other matchup.
On Sunday, China will face France, who have also remained unbeaten with a 2-0 record in the tournament.
