Huawei Maimang 5 Released in China, Could be the Next Huawei G9 in Other Countries

The Huawei Maimang 5 has been officially released in China. It could be the next Huawei G9 in other countries since its successor - the Maimang 4 - went on sale outside China as Huawei G8.

The Huawei G9 Lite has already been released in May alongside the MediaPad M2 7.0 tablet, GSM Arena reported.

The metal Maimang 5 features a 5.5-inch full high-definition IPS LCD with a generous resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 401ppi. It is powered by an octa-core Cortex-A53 Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at a speed of 2 GHz. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with EMUI 4.1. It has a 16-megapixel camera at the back with a dual-LED flash and a 4K video recording support at 30 frames per second.

The Maimang 5 is packed with a 3340 mAh battery that provides 22 hours of talk time and lasts up to 800 hours on standby. It comes in two storage variants; one with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage and another with 4 GB of RAM with a 64 GB of internal storage. Both variants have a microSD card slot that can expand the memory up to 128 GB.

According to Phone Radar, the fingerprint scanner at the back of the Maimang 5 can provide Huawei Pay authorization and access to the notification panel. The connectivity options of the device include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11  b/g/n, USB 2.0 Type-C port, and USB OTG. Its dimensions are 151.8 x 75.7 x 7.3 millimeters with a weight of 160 grams.

The device is available in rose pink, gray, and gold color. It would go on sale on July 21 via the Chinese-based company's official online store in China at a price tag of 2599 yuan ($388 or €349).
