The 28-year-old native of Shreveport, Louisiana last played for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA. Sloan played 61 official games with the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division team while averaging 7.0 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in 21.6 minutes of playing time per contest.

The 6-foot-3 tall American point guard is no stranger to the Chinese league. Sloan initially played for the Southern Tigers in the 2012-13 season of the CBA, where he played for a total of 11 matches.  He registered averages of 12.55 points, 5.1 dimes, and 4.82 boards in 26.7 minutes on the court. He helped Guangdong win the league's championship crown for that season.

After his successful stint in China, he signed a two-year contract with the Indiana Pacers in July 2013. In his two seasons with the Pacers, Sloan appeared in a total of 101 matches. According to the official website of the NBA, he averaged 7.4 points in 20.9 minutes in the hard wood while shooting with a 40.8 field goal percentage in his final year with the club.

He played college basketball for Texas A&M University from 2006-2010. In the 2010 NBA Draft, Sloan was not so fortunate to be selected but was later on signed by the Reno Big Horns of the NBA D-League.

Sloan played for USA Senior National Team back in 2011 and formerly for U21 National Team in 2004. He also played for the Americans at the Pan-American Games in Guadalajara in Mexico five years ago.

He has also previously played in the Philippines (Barangay Ginebra), NBA (New Orleans Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, and Cleveland Cavaliers) and D-League (Sioux Falls Skyforce and Erie Bay Hawks).

The Guangdong Southern Tigers finished fourth in the CBA's 2015-16 regular season with a win-loss record of 28-10. The team reached the semifinal round but lost to the Liaoning Flying Leopards in four games.
