Shaanxi Xinda Wolves Thrash Jiangsu Hualan to Extend Winning Streak in 23rd Round of the Chinese NBL

The league leading team Shaanxi Xinda Wolves continued strengthen its hold to the top of the league table after beating Jiangsu Hualan with a dominating 131-100 victory in the 23rd round of the Chinese National Basketball League (NBL) on Wednesday at Xian.

With the win, the Wolves now have the NBL's best win-loss record of 21-2. The Zhengxiu Jiang-headed basketball team is currently the No. 1 club on the league's table in the regular season. Shaanxi is on a five-game winning streak after suffering its second loss of the season against the incumbent second-best team Anhui early this month.

According to Asia-Basket, Former Austin Toros player Tyler Wilkerson led the Wolves with a game-high 34 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in 38 minutes on the court.  The American power-forward went 11 for 22 from the field including five three-pointers from beyond the arc area and made 7 of 10 from the foul line.

Former Clemson University Tigers player James Mays finished the game with another double-double production of 26 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Local players DaPeng Yang and XiaoHang Yu finished the game with 16 points apiece while JianJun Qi and Jiguang Bi had a combined 21 points for Shaanxi.

Shaanxi also won the battle for the rebounds, edging the opposing team with 47-38 including a 28-21 advantage in the defensive boards.  The Wolves also did better in moving the ball with a team combined 21 assists compared to Hualan's 11.

Wendell McKines paced Hualan with team-highs 32 points and 12 rebounds while fellow American Craig Brackins had 21 points and 12 boards. Chinese players Yuxiang Gao and Yaoyang Guo added 10 and nine points, respectively.

According to NowGoal, the winning team dominated the entire 48 minutes of the match. Shaanxi won all the four periods of the game and continued increasing their lead quarter after quarter (33-21, 33-29, 35-25, 30-25) to seal the win.
