Former NBA D-League Player Tony Mitchell Bags the Player of the Week Award for the Chinese NBL Round 23

(Photo : gettyimages.com) Tony Mitchell has been named Player of the Week in the 23rd round of China's minor basketball league.
Former NBA Developmental League player Tony Mitchell of the Hebei Xianglan had an awesome double-double performance in the 23rd round of China's professional minor basketball league, earning him the right to be named Asia-Basket.com NBL Player of the Week.
The 26-year-old American professional basketball forward, who used to play for the Jilin Northeast Tigers in the 2013-2014 season of the CBA, showed off an outstanding game performance by pouring in 76 huge points and grabbing down 11 boards. Mitchell led Hebei to win Beijing Dongfan with a lopsided 36-point margin 159-123 victory on Wednesday.

Mitchell, who was the 2013 NBA D-League Rookie of the Year, has turned to be the Chinese club's top player with his very imposing stats this season. The 6-foot-6 tall native of Swainsboro, Georgia has led Hebei Xianglan to a 13-10 win-loss record in the league's team standings.
According to Asia-Basket report, Mitchell is the NBL's second leading scorer, having a spectacular average of 43.2 points per game. The Italian Serie A 2015 MVP is the seventh-top playmaker in China's professional minor basketball league dishing an average of 4.5 assists per outing.
In Hebei's most recent game, Mitchell posted an amazing 82.6 shooting percentage from the two-point area and had six steals, and three blocked shots in 44 minutes of playing.
According to SportingNews, Mays played college basketball for the Alabama Crimson Tides in the NCAA Division I from 2009 to 2012. He was averaging 12.7 points per game in the 89 official matches that he played for the collegiate team.
Mitchell was not drafted in the 2012 NBA Draft but played in the NBA D-League, fitting in for Fort Wayne Mad Ants. He won an NBA D-League title with the Mad Ants in 2014.
Mitchell has previously also played in the Philippines, Russia, Spain, and Italy. He was able to play in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks on a 10-day contract in March 2014.
