Guizhou Senhang Smashes Hunan Yongsheng in 24th Round of Chinese NBL

The league's fourth-ranked club Guizhou Senhang continued their winning streak after defeating Hunan Yongsheng with a109-88 victory in the 24th round of the Chinese National Basketball League (NBL) on Friday.

With the win, Guizhou improved to a 15-9 win-loss record and extended their winning streak to five games in a row since beating blue-chip team Anhui Wenyi in the 22nd round of the regular season earlier this month.

According to EuroBasket, former NBA D-League player Brandon Costner led the winning team with a double-double production of game-highs 34 points and 21 boards. The product of North Carolina State University went 9 for 24 from the field including four three-pointers from beyond the arc region and made 12 of 15 from the free-throw line in 46 minutes of playing.

American swingman David Young added 27 points and six rebounds while local players Ming Hao Li and Zhou Feng chipped in 20 points and 10 points respectively for the winners.  

Guizhou is set to face the league's leading team Shaanxi Xinda Wolves, while Hunan will play the Guangxi Rhinos on Sunday for the 25th round of the regular season.

According to NowGoal, Guizhou entered the second half of the game with a slim three-point lead 56-53. However, the winning side staged a 26-17 run in the third frame to further stretch their lead to 12 points 82-70 going into the final twelve minutes of the match.

With a double-digit advantage, Guizhou was able to protect its lead and prevented Hunan from making a comeback in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Chinese forward Yaosheng Zhang paced the losing side with 21 points while Hanxu Lu added 18 markers.
