After a couple of successful preliminary round matches, the winning streak of Chinese tennis ace Zheng Saisai came to an end in the quarterfinal round of the ongoing $687,900.00 WTA Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California on Saturday.
Zheng, the current No. 74 in the latest WTA World Rankings, had beaten Maria Mateas of the United States 7-5, 6-1 in the opening round and outclassed the tournament's seventh seed Alize Cornet of France in two easy sets 6-4, 6-1 to move into the round of eight.

However, the 22-year-old native of Shaanxi was unable to continue her winning run as she bowed down to Johanna Konta with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 defeat.
According to the report of the Eurosport, the 25-year-old Konta, who is the third seeded player of the tourney, broke Zheng twice in the initial set as she began strongly but the next set was a mixed up affair that saw a total of seven breaks of serve.
Zheng, who will be representing China in the upcoming Rio Games this August in the women's doubles event, won the last three games of the set after taking advantage of four of the eight break points that she had to level the match.
With the momentum shifting, Konta managed to get back on track and regain control of the match to set up a last-four clash with the 2013 Bank of the West Classic winner Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia, according to Sports Mole.
