On July 24, the South Korean boy group once again wowed fans during their concert held at Seoul's Olympic Gymnastics Arena. However, following the opening performance of the group, it was announced that Kai injured his ankle and as a result, could not perform for most of the segments.
During the concert, Kai appeared on stage in a wheelchair and explained to fans that he re-injured his ankle during practice, according to Soompi.
"There are no broken bones but the ligament was injured," Kai told his fans, explaining that he is upset about the matter. He apologized to the audience for not being able to perform, and also assured them that he will keep them posted on his recovery.
EXO's only Chinese member, Lay, also got injured during the concert. According to sources, after performing their song "Lightsaber," Lay appeared to be ill.
Korean media outlets state that the Chinese idol looked "extremely exhausted" while he held onto his sides, his expressions showed he was in pain. Lay purportedly had to be escorted off the stage by his fellow member D.O. as he could not stand straight and was limping.
Furthermore, while the rest of the EXO boys entertained the audience, Lay told the fans that he needed to go backstage to change his clothes.
Despite their injuries, Kai and Lay will be joining the rest of the group for their performances as planned.
SM Entertainment released a statement saying that Kai will be participating in the concerts, but would not be performing as rigorously as he usually does.
