(Photo : Reuters) HP and HTC are set to team up to create PCs that can run the HTC Vive VR headset.
HTC is reportedly teaming up with HP to create and sell Vive-branded PCs.
The Taiwanese smartphone maker will allegedly acquire HP PCs and rebrand them as HTC Vive. One of the problems with VR headsets such as HTC Vive is that it requires users to have powerful PC to run it. HP will be creating PCs that matches the requirements for HTC Vive VR headset, according to Ubergizmo.

It is worth noting that HTC Vive requires at least an Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 processor, a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290 graphics card, 4GB of system memory, one USB 2.0 port, and an open HDMI 1.4 or DisplayPort 1.2 port.
The companies will launch the PCs at a budget-friendly price, providing customers with a complete Vive package containing an optimized desktop and headset, Digital Trends reported. A Vive-branded PC would help in marketing the Vive headset, as it would be easier to choose a guaranteed working set than cherry pick from dozens of possible combinations.
The new deal aims to spread HTC's virtual reality business to more markets by selling a bundle that includes the headset as well as a PC that is powerful enough to drive a VR experience. HTC also plans to spin off a separate subsidiary for its VR business. The idea behind the subsidiary reportedly is to insulate the VR business from weakness in the smartphone business.
However, both HTC and HP have not yet released any official statement about the new product.
