Sosson C96 Boasts of MediaTek MT6580 SoC

Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek is one of the biggest suppliers of system-on-chips for smartphones. Now, the company is also making a foray into the tablet industry its entry-level MT6580 chip which is at the heart of the Sosoon C96 tablet.
The MediaTek MT6580 is an affordable, entry-level system-on-chip. The chip is used on some smartphones that are currently out in the market. With Sosoon C96, MediaTek is entering a new market for tablets.

The Sosoon C96 costs less than $100. Despite its affordable price tag, the tablet sports some pretty decent specs.
The MediaTek MT6580 system-on-chip has a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and a Mali 400MP graphics processing unit, according to Gear Best.
The Sosoon C96 has a 9.6-inch IPS display with a 1280 x 800 resolution. It has 1GB of memory, 16GB of storage space which can be expanded up to 32GB. The tablet runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop mobile operating system.
Unlike most tablets on the market, the Sosoon C96 supports dual SIM card setup. It also supports both 2G and 3G network technologies.
The Sosoon C96 has two 2-megapixel cameras, one on the back and the other on the front, according to Giz China. The rear facing camera has an autofocus feature. The device is powered by a 4,400mAh battery pack.
