Queen Elizabeth II of Britain implied that she has no desire to influence the campaign for Scotland's independence, according to a Buckingham Palace statement.
The Queen's comments came on the heels of First Minister Alex Salmond's statement that Her Majesty would be "proud" to stand as the monarch of Scotland after its independence, BBC News relayed.

However, Buckingham Palace clarified that the prospect of Scottish Independence was "for the people of Scotland." The Queen does not wish to influence Scotland's referendum campaign, the statement said.
"As such the monarch is above politics," a palace spokesman said. "And those in political office have a duty to ensure that this remains the case."
According to Peter Hunt of the BBC, the comments were released as a response to calls for Her Majesty to express her approval of the union. It was not a response to Salmond's statement, Hunt said.
Salmond said he met with the Queen at Balmoral Castle a couple of weeks ago. Although he conveyed his desire to have Her Majesty as the Queen of an independent Scotland, he denied press reports that the Queen was worried about the idea of Scottish independence.
According to the first minister, he thought Buckingham Palace's neutral statement was a "perfectly satisfactory" comeback to the circulating rumors about the Queen's alleged concern, the report stated.
Based on the Scottish government's drafted plans for independence, Queen Elizabeth would still be the head of Scotland. Upon its independence in 2016, Scotland will become a constitutional monarchy, according to the plan.
The Queen's Speech this year conveyed her government's plans to boost the financial capabilities of the Scottish Parliament. Her Majesty also said they would continue to work to maintain Scotland's part in the United Kingdom.
The speech, which the Queen delivered in June during the Westminster Parliament opening, was written by the U.K. government.
The Queen delivered a statement in 1977 during her Silver Jubilee saying she could not forget the time she was crowned the "Queen of the UK and Northern Ireland." There were many who saw the statement as an expression of disapproval over the proposed Scottish independence.
However, Her Majesty issued a message to the Scottish Parliament 2002, conveying her appreciation for the new settlement. Some interpreted this message as a move to distance herself from her position in 1977, the report said.
