On Monday, Aug. 1 Xiaomi released the first trailer of its highly anticipated VR headset on its Chinese website.

We don't see a whole lot in the trailer apart from an elderly man and woman asking another man a series of questions but a GizChina report revealed that more trailers will be released ahead of the launch on Thursday.

This will be the first time that Xiaomi steps into the virtual reality arena. Rumors are rife that the VR headset will be based on Google's Daydream, which arrives later this month.

Google announced the project during the Google IO event earlier this year, during which the company released a number of specifications which smartphone manufacturers and VR headset makers can use to create a platform for a high-quality virtual reality experience.

The trailer comes days after Xiaomi announced two new laptop variants under the Mi Notebook Air series, which it claims will outperform Apple's Macbook Air, as previously reported.

The Beijing-headquarted company also unveiled a new smartphone -Redmi Note Pro. There is also talk of a smaller version of the handset, reportedly called the Redmi Pro Mini, in development at Xiaomi, according to GSMArena.
